私が好きなタイプの音楽が多くラインアップされている、ドイツの MORR Music レーベルから 2005年2月にリリースされたアルバム。昨年暮れに購入してから、最近徐々にターンテーブルに載せる頻度があがってきました。CD と共に LP でも同時リリースされており、こちらは 2枚組 (1枚目が33 1/3回転、2枚目が45回転という変則な組合せ)。もちろん迷うことなく後者を購入しました。

This album, released in February 2005 from German label MORR Music (whose catalogue contains many titles I like), was the one I bought last year. Recently I often pick up the album and enjoy the music. The album is available both in CD and LP format (the latter is double LP format, disc one in 33 1/3 rpm and disc 2 in 45 rpm) – of course I bought the album in LP format with no doubt.

Soothing Music For Stray Cats / Edgar Jones

時代錯誤と揶揄されようとも信念を貫き通した、レトロマニアの愛すべき頑固親父。ラーズ (The La’s) の リー・メイヴァース (Lee Mavers) と並び、1990年代初頭の UK インディーロックシーンで強烈な個性を発揮した ステアーズ (The Stairs) の エドガー・サマータイム (Edgar Summertime)。その彼が昨年 (本名の Edgar ‘Jones’ Jones 名義で) ソロアルバムを出していたことを最近になって知り、大急ぎで CD を購入しました。本当に最近の情報に疎くなってしまい、悲しいやら情けないやら . . .

Two lovable guys, hopelessly stubborn kinda individuals, perfection of anachronism – they are Lee Mavers (of The La’s) and Edgar Summertime (of The Stairs), both of who left remarkable individualities in the UK Indie Rock scene in the early 1990s. Recently I happened to know Edgar Summertime released his first solo album (under his real name, Edgar ‘Jones’ Jones) in 2005, which is so astonishing and astounding. It’s really awful and shameful to me that I know few things about recent music scene nowadays…

「平成の歌謡曲」

もうあれから2週間も経ってしまいました。 先日最終回を迎えた 音楽夢くらぶ (NHK)。 その3月16日放送分に HIS が出演してから。

楽曲と演奏のあまりの素晴らしさに TV の前で涙を流してから、もう 2週間も経ってしまいました。
