I don’t remember exactly when I got to know of (and when I got interested in) these Gastr del Sol albums – maybe somewhere on the web, in the early 2000s? Anyway just after I gave it a listen to the first few minutes of the CD album “Upgrade & Afterlife ”, I soon was fascinated with the sound – that could be described as the beauty of dissonance or reposeful noise. Upgrade & Afterlife / Gastr del Sol (Drag City DC090) Amazon.co.jp で買う:CD / LP Buy this at Amazon.com: CD / Vinyl

Seventh And Union / Hank Garland
This classic tune has been one of my daughter’s favourites for quite some time now – probably because the theme melody is so catchy? この投稿をInstagramで見る Kohji Matsubayashi(@kohji405mi16)がシェアした投稿 Seventh And Union c/w I’m Crying / Hank Garland (Decca [US] 9-46368) (45 rpm) Buy these tracks at Amazon.com | この曲が収録されているCDを Amazon.co.jp で買う
What the EP (Extended Playing) Originally Stands For
A Few Facts About EmArcy Label, Pt.2
It’s already been over five years since I posted the first part of the EmArcy article (sorry still available in Japanese only) – sorry for that. Several people have contacted and asked me when would the next part available – this month I managed to have spare time to write it – part 2 of the EmArcy article – including further research on various things. And now it’s finally available public. This part 2 (in Japanese only yet) features the release period of EmArcy titles, as well as checkpoints for identifying original issues of EmArcy 16000 (45/78 rpm),

Roy DuNann, one of the greatest recording enginners
If you are into Jazz music, especially into the golden age of Modern Jazz, you should know the name of the engineer Roy DuNann, who did so many masterpiece recordings for Capitol and Contemporary in the 1940s, 1950s and thrugh the early 1960s.
Pascal Pinon (MORR MM 101 LP)

THE SUPREME SOUND OF 78 RPM RECORDS
On August 18, I drove east to Tsukuba City in Ibaraki, to visit my mentor/guru/master of Jazz 78rpm records, Tohru Seya-san – he’s been probably one of the greatest, generous and openhearted collector – also he’s been one of the most dilligent researcher of pre-bop Jazz. We had a great time, discussing about old Jazz, listening to great Jazz sounds with his amazing audio equipment – an old tube amp, RCA professional 16-inch turntable, Jensen field speaker from 1930s and more – (believe me he’s not that snobbish, but he’s just a dilligent music enthusiast) – the first one we enjoyed was this record – 16-inch
