「フォノEQカーブの歴史」を再構築しました

RCA Victor 45rpm record sleeve, 12-5-49

New Orthophonic Frequency Test Record (RCA Victor 12-5-49, 1952 or 1953)
from my own collection

I have restructured the contents of my two-year-plus blog series Things I learned on Phono EQ curves, Pt.0 through Pt.25 into a dedicated section: History of Phono EQ Curves. The original series was written chronologically in my research order, which made it hard for readers who just wanted a conclusion or wanted to check a specific point. The new section is reorganized starting from the reader’s questions, not from my research timeline.

Japan Earthquake Aftermath: Prayers And Brighter Days

Dear fellow readers, music lovers and collectors,

My family and I are safe. We in Tokyo had the earthquake on March 11, 2011, but the situation was NOT critical and serious. As a matter of fact, all of my LPs, 78rpms, CDs, audio component or whatever are intact, fortunately. My daughter and I was at home when the huge earthquake hits Eastern Japan. Only a few things fell onto the floor – a toaster in the kitchen, many books and cardboard boxes in my home working room, some decorating parts of Hinamatsuri dolls in the living room. Anyway we are safe.

I just can’t help sending my prayers to the people in the Tohoku region where the critical earthquake and Tsunami hit, and who have been waiting for help and spending inconvinent days at refuge.

Even in Tokyo, many people here have been facing some difficulties in everyday life since the “3.11” – scheduled blackouts, train service being reduced because of the blackouts, some people rushing to supermarkets and gas stations, various false rumors making people uncertain and anxious, etc., etc… People have been even complaining that many of Japanese TV programs and newspapers don’t provide reliable and appropriate information to us.

But we will never give up. we never forget smile, peace of mind, courage and bravery.

Do you know the famous Japanese song “Sukiyaki” by Kyu Sakamoto? The original title is 上を向いて歩こう (“Ue Wo Muite Arukou”, “I Look Up When I Walk”). We will keep looking up. We will never walk alone.

Our first duet on piano

I had been way way busy since last December to the end of March – just too busy to post new articles and visit various music-related websites regularly. There’s no LP/CD records I bought during that period. There was not enough time to enjoy listening to music for months. There was not enough time to play tennis on the court. It had been so sad and miserable to spend like that, but I hope I will be able to update this site regularly as I had been doing before.

78rpm – A Speed We Can Live With!

昨年 瀬谷さんのお宅に伺った 際に、瀬谷さんから頂いた SP 用輸送ケース。年に何度か郵送されてくるオークションサイトのカタログにステッカーが同梱されていましたので、このケースに貼ってみました。

Seya-san kindly gave his spare 78rpm carrying case to me for free when I visited Seya-san’s house last year along with Okamura-san. Today I pasted a sticker onto the carrying case – the sticker was included in 78rpm auction catalogue book which was mailed to me regularly.
