オリジナル LP はマイナーレーベルから出たレア盤（Lulu 6072-25）らしいのですが、2012年にCD化されたので、いまでは比較的気軽に聴くことができます。
ファンク系あり、モロに1970年代マーヴィン・ゲイ風味あり、スウィート系あり。バラエティ豊かな楽曲群。
それ以上に、この時代にしては珍しく、調律の合っていないピアノ。ゆらぎまくりでグルーヴ感を台無しにするドラムス。
どこまでもB級で、どこまでも憎めないこの作品。21世紀のいま聴くと逆に新鮮なのが面白いです。
ハンク・ガーランドの “Seventh And Union”。ジョン・ゾーンの “Shuffle Boil”。各種ミュージシャンによる “That’s A Plenty”。スティーブ・ライヒの “REICH: Music For 18 Musicians”。ミルト・ハース・トリオの “Flat Foot Floogie”、そしてルー・リードの “Metal Machine Music” やフランク・ザッパの “Let’s Make The Water Turn Black”、ジェームス・ブラウンの “It’s A New Day” や “New Breed”（なぜこれを？）など。
さまざまな愛聴曲（？）溺愛曲（？）を持つ、7歳の娘が、最近別次元で完全に虜になっている音楽があります。 サイモンガー・モバイル です。マジで毎日鼻歌うたってます（笑）

Although I really do know (even as a native Japanese) that there’s been many public debates and controversies around the world relating to the use of nuclear weapons, every August we Japanese renew our determination to attain peace, talking to ourselves we never want to repeat the tragedy.
我々日本人の多くにとって、毎年8月というのは特別な月です。もちろんそれは広島と長崎に原子爆弾が投下され多くの方が犠牲になった月、そして終戦を迎えた月であるからです（また終戦記念日は偶然にもお盆でもあります）。原子爆弾が使用された事実については世界中で賛否両論の議論があるのは知っていますが、日本人にとって毎年8月が特別な気持ちにさせられる月であることは事実であり、悲劇が繰り返されないことを願い、平和を祈念する月でもあります。

On the other hand, some of the Japanese have been enthusiastic about Jazz music for many years (even since before the end of the WWII) – of course I’m one of such Jazz fans for dozens of years. And I sometimes encounter the Jazz/Popular songs that make me feel very confused with mixed emotions. “Hiroshima” by Albert Ammons is one of them.

クルマで移動中、あるいは自宅のオーディオで、いろんな音楽をかけるわけですが、6歳になる娘に媚び諂って子供向け音楽をかけたりすることは滅多にありません。
When I am driving with my car audio, or when I am at home listening to music with my stereo system, I play various kinds of music. But I seldom curry favor with my daughter, who is six years old now, like I play music for kids.

バディ・リッチのドラムバトルとか本当に大好きで、パーカッション演奏を聴くのが大好きな娘は、最近だと、スティーブ・ライヒ (Steve Reich) の “Music For 18 Musicians” と “Electric Counterpoint (Version for Percussions)” がストライクゾーンだった模様。特に後者はアドリブで「さむ さむ さむ さむ さむい さむい さむい さむい ねむい ねむい ねむい ねむい」とか歌いながら楽しんでました。I li I li I li I lik I lik I like I like I like the way way way way way s s s sh sh sh she she lik lik lik likes likes likes!
Recently she (who loves percussive performances a lot, including drum battles by Buddy Rich!) found the greatness of “Music For 18 Musicians” and “Electric Counterpoint (Version for Percussions)” both by Steve Reich. Particularly she loves the latter composition, and she does ad-lib singing along with the tune, like “Co, co, co, co, cold, cold, cold, cold, cool, cool, cool, cool” – Yes, I li I li I li I lik I lik I like I like I like the way way way way way s s s sh sh sh she she lik lik lik likes likes likes!

It’s been three months since my daughter knew that old standard tune “That’s A Plenty”, and she never lost interest to this song: she always ask me to play the playlist (on my iPhone) containing various versions of “That’s A Plenty”; she loves to play A melody and B melody of that tune with her new digital piano; she still hums the tune while she rides on her bicycle outside.

I’ve been exploring the vast world of “Plays Monk” by various musicians (as you see on my previous posts here), while my five-years-old daughter fell deeply in love with one particular song.
1914年、Lew Pollack 作曲、Ray Gilbert 作詞のスタンダードナンバー、「That’s A Plenty」です。
The song is “That’s A Plenty”, an old standard tune written by Lew Pollack and Ray Gilbert in 1914.

（私のお下がりの）娘の iPhone には、現時点で32バージョン（一部同一演奏の重複あり）の「That’s A Plenty」が同期されており、毎日何度も何度も聴いたり歌ったり弾いたりして楽しんでいます。
Her iPhone (handed down from me) always contains many versions of “That’s A Plenty” (32 versions so far) – she enjoys this number so much, listening to it, humming along with it, playing it on keyboards, etc.

真打ちその1。全てのモンクトリビュートものの規範となる素晴らしいアルバムです。
唯一といっていい欠点は、（過去に多くの方が指摘してきたように）「このアルバムがモンク存命中に出なかったこと」という一点だけでしょう。オリジナルのリリースは1984年。モンクがこの世を去った2年後になります。
LP（2枚組）も CD も廃盤。しかも CD は7曲もカットされ、曲順も異なります。今こそ、オリジナルの2枚組LPの全曲による CD 再発を強く希望します。
